Our Mission & Vision

The mission of Skywatch Ministries is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is to glorify our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances, to edify believers, and to do all that is sovereignly possible and biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus.

Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Evangelist Justin Helton, President of Skywatch Ministries

Justin accepted Jesus as His personal LORD and Savior at the age of 6, and has been attending the church of his grandparents, Pastor Charles and Jerlene Long in Rose Hill, VA at Old Arthur’s Chapel Church, for nearly 15 years. After receiving his call in the ministry at 9 years young, he has served under his grandfather as Assistant Pastor, growing and maturing in the gospel of Jesus Christ year after year. At 10 years old, Justin was privileged to minister the gospel for the first time outside of his home church. Worship Leader Ernie Helton, Vice President of Skywatch Ministries

Ernie Helton, father of Justin Helton, did not have the privilege of being raised in a Christian home. He had great loving parents and family, but he was not taught the importance of having a true encounter with God and establishing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It was not until he met Tammy Long that he would begin to understand what going to church and being a Christian was really about. On the Wednesday night following Easter in the year 1985, at a packed out Boone Trail Trinity Tabernacle Church of Ewing, Virginia, Ernie would give turn his life over to Jesus Christ, where he would experience the greatest peace and joy that he had ever felt!

On June 13, 1985, the very girlfriend that introduced him to Christ he would now marry. Ernie and Tammy have stood firm on the foundation of God’s Word ever since, raising and disciplining both of their children in the house of God! In Ernie’s early Christian walk, he would travel with Tammy and her parents, Charles and Jerlene Long, as they would sing and play music throughout the nation in many churches. They were called “The Long Family,” and many today are still familiar with their old cassette tapes. When Ernie first began traveling, he never played and sung music, though he had a desire to learn. He would always load, unload and set up music and sound equipment. However, it was not until two years later that he would learn how to play the piano and sing for the glory of God. He would travel for the next fourteen years with the Long Family. Then, in August of 1997, Charles Long would take the pastoral position of Old Arthur’s Chapel Church in Rose Hill, Virginia, where Ernie would also play music and sing.

Although Ernie still plays at Old Arthur’s Chapel, he travels under the banner of Skywatch Ministries with his son, Justin, as he evangelizes and preaches God’s Word.  Along with being busy in the ministry, he also owns a business called Cumberland Collision Center of Ewing, Virginia, one he has managed and overseen for nearly 28 years. He lives a very busy and eventful life, but everything he does he seeks to accomplish in perfection and accordance to God’s will so that God alone can get the glory through everything in his life!

Evangelist Brandon Salas, Evangelist Coordinator

After a near death experience that forever served as a wakeup call for his life, Brandon Salas reconciled his life to the LORD at the age of 19. He would find himself in Bible College in August 2007 where he became connected with Justin Helton. It is also where he met his lovely wife. Brandon graduated from World Harvest Bible College with an Associates in Pastoral Leadership in May 2010 and found him accepting my calling to preach. He went on to further his education by enrolling in Ohio Christian University and recently graduating with a Bachelors in Business. In Fall of 2011, he was forever united in matrimony with his best friend Katie. Currently, Brandon and Katie reside in Ewing, Virginia, and he serves under Justin and Skywatch Ministries as part of the board of Directors. [read more]
