Christ’s Intercession For Us, Pt. 3

1 Peter 3:18-19 says, “18For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison.”
The reason why we no longer go into paradise in the heart of the earth but go to the third heaven as believers is because of Jesus Christ. The first heaven is the clouds and sky that we see. The second heaven is the galaxies and the universe. The third heaven is where God’s throne is! Jesus went to heaven as the High Priest of intercession because through His blood He cleansed the heavenly temple of Lucifer’s sin. In Ezekiel 28:13-19, you read of Lucifer’s beginning. Before Lucifer, the angel of light, become Satan, the archenemy of that which is good, he was the praise and worship leader in heaven as the “workmanship of the tabrets and pipes were prepared in him in the day that he was created” (v. 13). He was created to lead the worship of heaven. He practically the high priest of heaven as he was seen with nine various stones, all of which were visibly seen on the breastplate of the high priest in the Old Testament, who had three additional stones. This means that he was one of the main intercessors of heaven. However, he became prideful in his wisdom and beauty, and he defiled the sanctuary of heaven through is pride and trafficking, which means that he slandered God (v. 18). When you walk in pride and gossip, you are not fulfilling the image of Christ but of Satan, the corrupted Lucifer! God did not create Satan, but He did create Lucifer. It means that you were created to worship God, but you do not fulfill God’s purpose for your life through gossip and pride. As a result of Satan’s slander, 1/3 of the angels are seen following Lucifer in his rebellion (Revelation 12:4). Afterwards the fall of Lucifer, darkness covered the face of the deep, and God began to make all things new, creating life on the earth, and instead of Satan ruling the earth, God created man in His image to be His ambassadors here on earth. However, instead of fulfilling the image of God, they fulfilled the image of Satan, exalting themselves in pride to be “as” God” instead of seeking to be “like” God, and the second Adam, the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ was required to come and be manifested on the earth as our High Priest and intercessor to become the propitiation for our sins!
After Christ took the keys of death and hell, He now prepared to enter into heaven and consummate the work of redemption by cleansing the heavenly temple of Lucifer’s sin so that we could go to heaven. He made a secret ascension to heaven. It is why when Jesus appeared to Mary that He said to her, “Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God” (John 20:17). On the Day of Atonement, the High Priest could not be touched by any man or woman because His mission was to offer sacrifices and be the intercessor for the nation of Israel. He had to ascend to heaven and cleanse the heavenly temple, and in the meantime those Old Testament saints were seen walking up and down the streets of Jerusalem, and the veil, which was known as the hem of God’s garment, was rent in two from top to bottom, giving man direct access to the throne of God through Jesus Christ! A renting of a priest’s garment signified that the office of the priesthood had now been given to someone else. So, Jesus through His blood covered the sin in the temple, and there is no other sacrifice that needs to be made than that which was paid at Calvary (Hebrews 10:26). By the time you get to John 20:27, Jesus instructs Thomas to reach his finger and touch His hands and to reach his hands and thrust it into His side so that he would believe. Thomas could touch him before Mary could because He had not ascended before talking to Mary, but He had already ascended to heaven when Thomas touched him. As a matter of fact, the reason why Mary mistook Jesus for a gardener was because most gardeners wore linen clothes, but Jesus wore those garments because the priestly garments had been shed, and now as the High Priest he was preparing to offer the ultimate sacrifice in His linen garments (John 20:15). All of the Old Testament foreshadowed was to come in the New Testament, and earth is just a picture of heaven! That is how great our God really is!
