The Armor of Flesh

Ephesians 6:10-18 says, “10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
We have heard the armor of God preached numerous times since the church has focused its attention on fighting spiritual battles instead of intimacy with Christ as His bride. We struggle with a victim and defensive mentality of how the devil keeps warring against the church instead of emphasizing the authority, advancing the kingdom and walking in the victory we have as believers. Therefore, instead of being equipped with the armor of God, we are engaging conflict with the armor of the flesh, and here is what it looks like:
(1) The Belt of Lies – The belt is what the shield and sword rest upon. When your confidence and Word is placed in and surrounded by lies, you will lose!
(2) Breastplate of Sin – Sin covers your heart rather than righteousness through repentance.
(3) Shoes of Preparation of the Media of Worry – Instead of spreading the gospel of peace, which stands assure on any foundation, you manipulate others with worry!
(4) Shield of Doubt – You try to defend yourself from the attacks of the enemy with doubt, which is definitely penetrable.
(5) Helmet of Destruction – Pride comes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18). Therefore, covering your mind with pride leads to destruction.
(6) Sword of Evil, which is Satan’s Word of Gossip – Gossip cuts through people and divides the church, and this piece of armor is self-destructive.
With the armor of flesh, you open the door for lies, gossip, worry, doubt and pride, or, better yet, sin! It is only destined for defeat, and it is not the way to fight spiritually in this hour. They form division, creating wedges between family members, friends, classmates, teammates, church members, churches, ministries, etc. Nothing good comes from it. So, we must be willing to work together and be unified upon the Word of God!
